International Academy of Gastronomy

The Accademia Italiana della Cucina did it!

Italian cuisine has been recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The official decision came from New Delhi, where the Intergovernmental Committee met to evaluate the proposals submitted by various governments. This is the first time that UNESCO has granted this recognition not to certain aspects or characteristics, but to a national cuisine in its entirety.

This outstanding achievement is the result of the hard work of the Accademia Italiana della Cucina which was instrumental in preparing a very strong proposal.

The International Academy of Gastronomy is extremely proud that the Accademia Italiana della Cucina has pushed so high the bar to protect and develop the national culture and heritage in the art of cooking.
